Born in Georgia, raised in Florida and now living in California... This Georgia/Florida girl is more than meets the eye. Joy Ann, transcends generation, race, and Spirit to touch the heart and heal the soul through her music.
The spirit of the listener will soar to new levels of freedom with lyrics that ground and soothe, and rhythms that offer an entryway into the divine. While her lyrics are strongly emotional, addressing wounds that everyone suffers in the course of love and life, Joy also seeks to discover resolution from the pain, delivering hope and healing within every experience.
Having attended Hollywood's renowned Musician's Institute, Joy first exploded onto the Los Angeles scene as one of a handful of female drummers in the 90s. Wanting to stretch her creative legs, she embarked on a journey into the creative waters of writing and performing her own material. To help realize this dream, she added the piano and guitar to her repertoire and has now become one of L.A.'s most powerful up-and-coming talents.
Singing second soprano as a member of the heralded Agape International Choir, Joy has had the great pleasure of appearing in front of live audiences for several PBS Christmas specials, as well as for other local events. The atmosphere of these performances, especially the interaction between artist and crowd, solidified her quest to become a solo artist, and has added new depths and perspective to her songs.
And now, after spirited performances at such local hot spots as Highland Grounds, Genghis Cohen, and Main Street Cafe, Joy Ann has been receiving accolades from fans and critics alike.
