Well it's taken a little time but I've finally found the right producer for my project!! Kevin FIsher is now recording with me and I will have some new tunes up by next week! I can't wait to show you what I've been up to.

Also am playing out live this month at Molly Malone's so check it out. Working to have an ep for you too.

Well I have neglected to take care of this site for a little while and found so much crap in the guestbook. I don't know who this person or persons are but it's a bit concerning they don't have better things to do with their time than spam up a website. Hmmm..

So much is going on all the same time I barely have time to breathe. I have started commercial acting classes with a wonder woman named Daphne who promises to be a great informer to get the job done. I'm having loads of fun and meeting new people, which is really good.

I also started piano lessons last week and just had my second lesson today. It's all rudimental stuff I should have learned a million years ago but I think I am getting it right on time as well and picking it up with ease. I took some of this in college but being "just a drummer" I really didn't click with it and resisted learning (aaahhh but why!) so now I'm open and receptive to this beautiful instrument which is strange since I have three keyboards at home already, but just used them for the studio stuff and figuring out notes for vocals and for songwriting. UGH>.. but you get it when you get it right?

LIfe is funny, I'm learning to go with the flow of it instead of fight it and swing at anything that "seems" to be against me. Deep breath.... As my new song says... "I remembered to breathe today" i love that line! to breathe and let go of all the worry we all can have. Yep I'm learning here. And "it takes time, sometimes, to really get it"... Oh I can' wait to have my songs finished and recorded for you to hear them. It's gonna be so much fun.

I'm gonna make some phone calls this week to start booking gigs so I can share my new tunes with you even without the recordings. It's gonna be fun. Check me out if you can and live here in Cali.

So Mercury isn't in retrograde until May 26 but for the past month or so it feels like it has cos something has been killing all my electronics, from my new PDA phone to my MacBook Pro hard drive, keyboard and battery all died within three weeks apart! and even my external HD crashed and burned and I had to do all the techy stuff to get it up and running. Oh GEZZZ the Apple Store has seen a lot of me and Fry's is next... what happened to just creating my music... I guess this is what you call spring cleaning.

In the meantime I have found a couple of wonderful meetup groups for Hoopers ... Yes Hula Hooping is back!! Oh and it's so much fun.. Remember when you were a little kid and someone gave you a hula hoop?? Well maybe my inner kid is coming out but I've found it so much fun that has become my weekend love fest. Lots of fun in the sun with great new friends. You just can't help but put a smile on your face. :)

But with a new computer and a resounding spirit I am back on track, with more gumption than ever!

i just came back from the Songwriter's conference in Park City, Utah. It was a good time to network and share my songs in listening rooms with top industry people who gave their opinions. I even got to connect with some major songwriter's who took me aside to really share deeper insights with me on how to take my songs to the next level! Very powerful.

The people make the difference and I was fortunate enough to make friends with some really great people, who felt we had been friends for life. Very powerful connections and so much fun! I hadn't laughed this much since I was a kid.

The beauty of Utah is their mountains covered in fall colored trees. This time of year it's not too cold and the leaves have just turned shades of yellow and red. It's breathtakingly beautiful and this Florida girl hasn't seen a whole lot of seasons change. This was clearly this was a treat for me to see!

The last night I learned how to play poker and even won $7 from nothing!

Inspiration comes from this type of setting and with so many creative people I couldn't help but be engulfed by the muse. Now it's off to write more inspired songs and start selecting songs for the album. More will be revealed. Much love, Joy

OMG!!! I just saw Greg Behrent, author of He's Just Not That Into You, on a commercial and he's doing a new TV talk show staring in the fall! I nearly fell out of my seat.

I introduced myself to him last year telling him I wrote the song "He's Just Not That Into You"... And here I am finishing the vocals on the recording to submit it to him this week! When the time is right it all falls into place. I'll keep you posted as to what happens.

This just "feels" right. I'm so excited! Can you tell....

Ok so I"m posting blogs now on myspace.com/joyannmusic and you can check out more stuff there too! Geez this work is never done. This week I'm working on my set list and recording two songs! I need a dead line in order to get this done it seems. So here it is (in print) I'm going to finish recording 5 songs by the end of summer and have them fully produced by the beginning of fall. Ha there it is. Deep breath I'm ready to rock and roll.

I've been so busy working on new material and learning Logic (my new recording software) that I've forgotten to check in with this site. How cool for you to be checking in right now while I'm still on hiatus to recreate my craft.

I've been learning a lot these past few months and am ready to start some of my project co-writing adventures, as I've been primary a one man band who does it all! That gets pretty exhausting after awhile.... I surrender... It's time to step it up and got to the next level...

in April I went to the ASCAP Expo and I just got done with Durango songwriter's Expo this weekend. I'm so inspired to write better songs with the new tools I've gotten and have finally found some people I think will be great co-writers with me. It's a new chapter in my life and I'm so happy you're here to share this with me.

Ok so last night I was at the Durango Expo for songwriters and got to hang with some amazing people. The critics of my new song "Candles and Wine" were inspiring, as everyone liked my hook yet the song didn't hold water to the great line "Who are we beyond candles and wine". Which is cool, it's just a muscle I need to develop to go with my great ideas.

So after an amazing party with some really big hitters, I got to sit down with an amazing writer and just wrote from a stream of consciousness. As we watched the sun rise, the flow of creativity engulfed us. I am floored right now and humbled to be surrounded by so much talent. I can't wait for you to hear what I've been up to. I promise I wont disapoint. If you liked my music before, you're gonna really like it now.

There's nothing else I see myself doing. This is my passion.

I'm writing some really great material right now and am really excited to have a couple of new writing partners. This should help me get my tunes out faster.

Next week I'm going to learn a program called Logic to record my songs and I'll be ready within the next couple of months (with this learning curve) to have some songs up here for you to hear!

This is an exciting time.
